Job summary

Pawtucket School Department is seeking a Teacher Assistant to support classroom teachers in delivering educational and behavioral interventions for students with special needs. The role requires flexibility to adapt to varied student needs and collaboration with the principal and special education administrators.

Responsibilities include assisting with IEP goals, maintaining a safe classroom, supporting behavior management, and helping students with daily activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's degree or higher or 2 years of college/work experience required.
• Completion of RI Approved Teacher Assistant Pre-Employment Training or TA certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic support to students under the classroom teacher's direction.
• Assist with IEP goals, 504 accommodations, and ELL accommodations.
• Support classroom operations, safety, and behavior management.
• Assist students during arrival, dismissal, recess, and bus routines.
• Complete student paperwork as directed by the teacher and principal.

Education
