Job summary

Jennings County Schools is seeking a paraeducator to assist certified staff with students in the classroom, reinforcing reading, language arts, mathematics, and computer instruction and supporting curriculum development.

You will work with students individually and in small groups, help administer and correct exercises, assist with preparations, manage classroom routines, supervise lunch and bus duties, accompany field trips, and assist with parent contact to foster inclusion and achievement.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; willingness to take parapro exam within first month of employment.
• Prior experience working with students with special needs desirable.
• Ability to carry out written or oral instructions and to use basic computer applications (e.g., Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Assists and guides students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction and other skills.
• Works with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning and implement programs.
• Assists professional staff in administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests and assessments.
