Job summary

Aiken County Public Schools AIKEN HIGH SCHOOL is hiring a Full Time SPED Bus Monitor for an 180‑day position in Aiken, SC. This role provides specialized support to the bus driver and direct care to students with medical, behavioral, and complex needs during transport.

Responsibilities include assisting with loading and securing wheelchairs and adaptive equipment, following IEPs/BIPs/IHPs, monitoring student health, documenting incidents, and attending required trainings throughout the year.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to read simple words and numbers.
• Ability to communicate clearly with students, staff and parents.
• Ability to assist students with medical, behavioral, and physical needs during transport.

Responsibilities

• Provides hands-on support to students during transport.
• Assists with loading, securing, and monitoring wheelchair users and adaptive equipment.
• Follows IEPs, BIPs, and IHPs per district protocols.
• Monitors medical and behavioral status and notifies driver/supervisor as required.
• Documents incidents and communicates with school staff.
