Job summary

The Howard County Public School System is seeking a Special Education K-12 Behavior Paraeducator to support students with behavioral skills growth under the supervision of the Director of Special Education. You must have reliable transportation and be willing to work at assigned schools.

Responsibilities include assisting with Behavior Intervention Plans, preparing instructional materials, data collection, and collaborating with teachers and the Behavior Specialist to support student progress

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required; must scan/upload diploma or transcript.
• Education from outside the United States must be evaluated by an MSDE-approved vendor.
• For Title I schools: High School Diploma/GED and a passing ParaPro or 48 college credits.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support and assistance to the Behavior Specialist and the school-based team implementing Behavior Intervention Plans.
• Support teachers and staff in preparing instructional and behavioral materials.
• Provide data collection and clerical support to track student progress and support BI Plans.
• Assist school staff in implementing Behavior Intervention Plans.
• Demonstrate behavioral interventions/strategies for the school-based team.
• Attend monthly school-based and Department of Special Education meetings.
• Prepare instructional materials.
• Support students transitioning between grade levels.
• Support transportation staff in implementing behavior plans during transport.
• Other duties as assigned.
