Job summary

East Windsor Middle School in East Windsor, CT is seeking a Special Education Para to support students with a range of disabilities under the direction of the special education teacher.

The role includes assisting with IEP goals, implementing behavior plans, aiding with feeding, toileting, and mobility, and performing clerical duties. Training in PMT, medication-delegation, CPR may be required, and a 2-year degree or 60 credits is expected.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of an Associate degree or 60 college credits or have passed the CT ParaPro exam.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic math at a 12th grade level.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community.
  • Ability to articulate clearly in both oral and written communications.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications and district policies.

Responsibilities

  • Support students individually or in small groups to meet IEP goals under supervision.
  • Assist with medication-delegation training and CPR as required.
  • Implement individualized student behavior plans and support positive behaviors.
  • Assist with transfers using mechanical lifts and adhere to safety procedures.
  • Provide feeding, toileting and incontinence assistance as directed by service providers.
