Job summary

Niles Community Schools is seeking a dynamic Special Education Instructional Assistant for the 26-27 school year. The role requires strong communication and professionalism for daily interactions with students, staff, and the community.

Qualifications include two years of college or an associate degree, or passing state assessments demonstrating reading, writing, and math proficiency. The position reports to the Howard-Ellis Principal and Special Education Administrator.

Qualifications

• Two years of college (60 hours) or an Associate's Degree or higher is required.
• Alternatively, meet a state-approved academic assessment standard in reading, writing, and math.
• Candidates must be able to assist in reading, writing, and math instruction as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing educational activities.
• Supervise students and provide instruction under teacher direction.
• Support small groups and provide follow-up activities to reinforce learning.
• Assist with behavior management using positive behavior supports.
• Maintain communication with parents, staff, and administrators.
• Perform duties to maintain a clean, safe instructional area.
