Job summary

Bismarck Public Schools is seeking an Instructional Aide II at Elk Ridge Elementary School in Bismarck, ND. This role supports students with significant learning challenges, assists teachers, and helps implement instructional plans pursuant to IEPs.

The position follows the school calendar, working 6.5 hours per day. Starting date is immediate and the role requires providing direct student care, first aid, and supervision in various settings to ensure a safe learning environment.

Qualifications

• Perform multiple tasks while updating skills to meet changing job conditions.
• Adhere to safety practices, operate standard office equipment, use pertinent software applications, and maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Administer First Aid and Medical Assistance as directed by healthcare professionals and classroom teachers.
• Provide Physical Care for students with severe disabilities, including lifting and securing wheelchairs and restraints.
• Collaborate with supervising teachers to adapt, modify, and implement activities and materials for students.
• Attend training and in-service meetings such as first aid, CPR, and emergency procedures.
• Communicate with staff to evaluate academic progress and implement IEP objectives.
• Implement Behavior Management Plans under direction to manage student behavior.
• Maintain records and organize files, ensuring mandated requirements are met.
• Monitor student activities during lunch, bus stops, playground, classroom, and field trips.
• Operate instructional equipment and assistive technology to support learning.
• Review student learning with teachers to identify needs for individual attention.
• Adhere to school policies and procedures; maintain prompt attendance.
• Perform other duties to support classroom and school operations.
