Job summary

Valley View Elementary in Martinsburg, West Virginia seeks a Supervisory Special Education Aide to support teachers and MD/MS students with daily instructional and non-instructional activities.

The successful candidate will assist with behavior management, communication, daily living, self-help, academic, and recreation/leisure skills. Toileting may be required. Position starts Nov 18, 2026 and runs 200 days annually.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience assisting in classrooms with students with disabilities is preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in daily classroom operations and routines.
• Support MD/MS students with behavioral, academic and recreational activities.
• Demonstrate understanding of student needs and maintain a safe, respectful environment.
• Assist with toileting and hygiene-related procedures as needed.
• Load/unload wheelchair-bound students on buses and supervise transport.
• Prepare bulletin boards and maintain classroom materials and records.
• Attend open houses and conferences as requested.
