Job summary

Ignite Educational Solutions seeks a Special Education Aide to support Richland School District students. You'll assist with classroom activities, supervise students, and help with personal care under teacher guidance.

Daily tasks include maintaining a neat classroom, helping with equipment, and ensuring safety. This part-time role offers benefits such as PTO, 403(b) options, tuition discounts, and pet insurance, with training provided and flexible hours aligned to school schedules.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma.
• Willingness to go through required clearances and training for safety.
• Capacity for sitting throughout an eight-hour day.

Responsibilities

• Help with inventory, care and maintenance of equipment
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom
• Assist students with physical disabilities according to their needs, including transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting or positioning (if applicable)
• Assist students with physical needs and personal care, including feeding, bathroom needs and personal hygiene
• Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to each student’s special medical, physical, communicative and emotional needs
• Work with individual student(s) or small groups to develop motor skills and conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher
• Help manage behavior of student(s) as needed
• Help supervise student(s) throughout the school day, inside and outside of the classroom, including lunchroom, bus and playground duty
• Help classroom teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports
• Maintain confidentiality
• Keep teacher informed of special needs and/or problems of student(s)

What are the duties and responsibilities?

What are the required qualifications?

• Must have a high school diploma.
• Willingness to go through (and pass!) the required clearances and training to ensure the safety and security of our children, including: four clearances, mandated reporter training, a physical and TB test, and First Aide-CPR Certification. This can typically be accomplished within a week to get you started.
• Capacity for sitting as this happens throughout the eight-hour day.
