Job summary

The Fremont School District 79 is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional for the 2026-2027 school year to support teachers and students in inclusive settings. The paraprofessional will assist with instructional support, supervision in common areas, and classroom preparation, working under the direction of the building principal.

Illinois Paraprofessional License is required to apply, with opportunities for collaboration, planning, and contributing to student progress.

Qualifications

Illinois Paraprofessional License is required.
Experience assisting students in general or special education settings.
Ability to work under instruction of teachers and administrators.

Responsibilities

Assist the teacher in reinforcing instructional material for special education students.
Supervise students in playground, lunchroom, buses, and non-instructional areas.
Participate in collaborative planning for instruction with the teacher.
Prepare classroom and materials for school sessions and closing of school.
Coordinate and maintain individual help to an identified student.
Accompany students to special area classes or buses as needed.
Attend district and team meetings when necessary.
Support students during independent study, enrichment, and remedial work.
Perform clerical and safety tasks for the teacher (copies, bulletin boards, filing).
Maintain or modify a student’s curriculum as directed by the teacher.
Assist with testing and observe/progress monitor students.
