Job summary

Santa Clara Unified School District is seeking a credentialed Special Education teacher to identify eligible students and participate in IEP team planning. You will supervise students, develop individualized programs, and coordinate with families and clinicians to support mainstreaming when appropriate.

You will stay current with regulations, maintain records, and liaise with physicians, schools and community organizations to ensure the health, safety and progress of students.

Qualifications

  • Valid California Special Ed credential with Mild/Moderate authorization.
  • Added Autism authorization is required.
  • Must have EL authorization (CTEL/CLAD/BCLAD/AB2913/SB2042) or SB2042 EL Authorization.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, through assessment, children eligible to receive special education services;
  • Participate as a member of a team to identify the needs and specific goals and objectives of each child's individual education plan;
  • Supervise, direct and engage students in activities in a classroom environment;
  • Develop programs for student's to allow for success in an educational environment and serve as a liaison to facilitate successful mainstreaming of students when appropriate;
  • Conduct informal evaluations and modify each student's curriculum;
  • Consult and articulate with staff and parents via meetings and phone, regarding the needs of students;
  • Utilize resources both within and outside the school district to facilitate student progress in both educational and social development;
  • Provide parents with appropriate instructional strategies;
  • Maintain knowledge of current regulations pertaining to special education and continue independent professional growth;
  • Maintain records, files and reports as required by federal, state, and district regulations;
  • Maintain confidentiality of all written and oral information;
  • Communicate with physicians, private schools, and community organizations regarding special education services;
  • Insure health and safety of children;
  • Assist parents to coordinate utilization of appropriate community services

Requirements / Qualifications

MATERIALS A valid California Special Ed (Mild/Moderate) Credential is required as well as an Added Authorization in Autism. Also required is at least one of the following authorizations to teach English Learners: CTEL, CLAD, BCLAD, AB2913 training (formerly SB395 OR SB1969) or SB2042 EL Authorization. Applicants who do not have a valid credential the first day of the school year will not be considered. 30-day Substitute Credentials are NOT valid credentials for contracted positions in our district.
