Special Counsel / Insurance & Reinsurance Litigation

We have been retained by a leading Am Law 100 firm to identify a Special Counsel to join its Litigation practice in New York, with a focus on complex insurance and reinsurance disputes.

The team handles high-stakes matters across the full litigation lifecycle — pretrial strategy, discovery, trial and appellate work — with a particular emphasis on arbitration proceedings. In this role you will draft complex submissions, prepare witnesses, manage expert discovery and play an active role in both trial and arbitral advocacy. The practice is commercially focused and results-driven, with meaningful responsibility from the outset.

Candidates should have 6+ years of relevant experience, a JD or LLM from an ABA-accredited law school, and be admitted or eligible for admission in New York. A background in complex litigation is essential; experience in insurance or reinsurance is preferred.

Strong written and oral advocacy skills, sound judgement under pressure, and the ability to manage demanding clients and competing priorities are all expected. A collaborative working style and meticulous attention to detail round out the profile.
