Job summary

Getty Research Institute seeks a Limited-term Special Collections Archivist I to enhance description and discovery of study photograph collections. The role focuses on transitioning from on-site browsable access to off-site paged access, upgrading stub records to DACS-compliant finding aids, and performing basic collection maintenance and MARC record updates.

Responsibilities include processing materials, creating advanced metadata, and supporting the off-site move and packing coordination

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in Art History or Library & Information Science preferred.
• 0–2 years related experience in an academic, arts, or cultural institution.
• May require advanced subject, language, and/or technical expertise.

Responsibilities

• Arranges, processes, and re-houses collection materials.
• Creates new metadata of advanced complexity based on standards, best practices, research, and review.
• Applies advanced knowledge to edit, aggregate, enhance, transform, and disseminate metadata.
• Makes judgments regarding storage and preservation of collection materials.
• Maintains current knowledge in standards and practices.
• Supports other departmental activities as assigned.
