Job summary

State of Louisiana is seeking an Investigator/Special Agent (1-4) to join the Louisiana Bureau of Investigations and Medicaid Fraud Control Unit. The role involves handling abuse/neglect investigations, assisting attorneys, and coordinating with law enforcement.

Position may be domiciled in various parishes; background checks and drug testing are required. Eligible for career progression within the group, with competitive state benefits.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Louisiana driver's license.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
• POS.T certification (preferred).
• Two years of full-time investigations experience (preferred).
• An associate's degree or higher with a bachelor's degree option or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate abuse/neglect allegations in health care settings.
• Assist attorneys and investigators in case prep and testify when needed.
• Request, review, and analyze medical documentation and care provisions.
• Identify and capture electronic evidence from computers and digital media.
• Prepare documents, reports, and spreadsheets for assigned cases.
• Serve as a resource for staff by explaining medical terminology and standards of care.
• Engage with consumers, businesses, and law enforcement to advance investigations.
• Have knowledge of criminal investigative principles and related laws and rules of evidence.
