Job summary

South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is seeking a highly capable Class I Law Enforcement Officer to join the Low Country Region. You will plan and conduct investigations, assist local agencies, and prepare reports while maintaining compliance with agency standards and CALEA requirements.

The role requires overnight travel, 24/7 availability, and the ability to perform all physical tasks of a Class I LEO. This is a mission-driven organization focused on public safety and justice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Current certification as Class I Law Enforcement Officer through the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy.
• Minimum of three years of law enforcement experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Position requires overnight travel and 24-hour emergency call.
• Ability to perform all physical requirements of a Class I LEO including arrests, searches, securing incidents, crowd control.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations: gather material facts, interview suspects, collect evidence and manage case load.
• Support local law enforcement with manpower and technical assistance.
• Prepare investigative and administrative reports; provide testimony when required.
• Perform administrative tasks related to training, communications, and special assignments.
• Support SLED program areas (e.g., executive protection, missing person matters, regulatory services).
