Job summary

BMO Financial Group is seeking a position responsible for independently examining appraisals and evaluations for adherence to policies and procedures. The role assesses credibility of appraisals related to substandard and impaired borrowers and reports results with recommended actions.

The role includes identifying corrective actions, escalating where needed, and, when appropriate, preparing independent valuations. This is a hybrid role with multiple days per week in office.

Qualifications

  • Typically 2–6 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field or equivalent.
  • Credit qualifications and credit knowledge per established standards.
  • In-depth knowledge of banking products and services.
  • Familiarity with industry trends and regulations.
  • Knowledge of credit portfolio management policies and financing guidelines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with collaboration and analytical abilities.

Job description

  • Independently examines appraisals and evaluations prepared by vendors or BMO appraisers for adherence to all policies / procedures and standards applicable to the transaction based on established assessment processes.
  • Assesses the credibility and/or reliability of appraisals performed for the Bank, as well as the reasonableness of the appraisal value conclusions specifically as it relates to substandard and impaired borrowers.
  • Documents and reports results of reviews on an individual and summary basis; identifies and recommends action plans for resolving issues.
  • Identifies where corrective actions are required (e.g. incomplete investigations and analysis, possible fraudulent transactions) and escalates per guidelines; ensures corrective action is taken as necessary. Where appropriate, supplement with preparation of independently prepared valuation of substandard and impaired borrowers
  • Hybrid role with multiple days per week required (subject to change).

Delivers an exceptional experience for a defined portfolio of high risk borrowing accounts by applying expertise and knowledge. Makes decisions/recommendations in accordance with sound principles and in compliance with Bank Policy & Procedures.

  • Develops solutions and makes recommendations based on an understanding of the business strategy and stakeholder needs.
  • Provides advice and guidance to assigned business/group .
  • Performs financial and risk analysis of customer and account information to provide insights and recommendations
  • Documents decisions with rationale that can be understood and explained.
  • Keeps abreast of economic and market developments to inform decision making.
  • Supports the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Gathers and formats data into regular and ad-hoc reports, and dashboards.
  • Provides input into the planning and implementation of operational programs.
  • Executes work to deliver timely, accurate, and efficient service.

Qualifications
  • Typically between 2 - 6 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Credit Qualifications and associated credit knowledge and skills according to the established qualification standards.
  • In-depth knowledge of banking products & services.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry trends and regulations.
  • In-depth knowledge of credit portfolio management policies & procedures, and financing guidelines.
  • Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience.

Salary

$55,000.00 - $120,000.00

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
