Job summary

Regional One Health in Memphis, TN is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to decontaminate, process, sterilize and distribute instrument sets for age-specific patient care. You will work under the SPD Manager and Educator to ensure preparedness for daily operating room cases.

Responsibilities include monitoring steam sterilizers, assembling trays, performing biological indicators tests, coordinating recalls, and supporting OR staff with instrument needs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and the ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations.
• Experience with care, handling, and assembly of surgical instrumentation, sterilization practices, and surgical supplies.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminates, processes, sterilizes, stores and distributes instrument sets to facilitate age specific patient care.
• Monitors steam sterilizer loads and identifies problems on computer printouts.
• Maintains instrument availability for scheduled and additional cases.
• Assembles instrument trays and peel packs efficiently and ready for procedures.
• Knows biological indicators for sterilizer testing in supervisor's absence.
• Understands Bowie Dick (DART) test, Leak Test, Attest, and Water Quality Tests for sterilizers and washers.
• Coordinates recall procedures in case of positive culture.
• Coordinates with surgery personnel on instrument sets needed for surgery cases.
• Responds and communicates well with co-workers and other departments.

JOB SUMMARYResponsible for the cleaning, processing, sterilization, storage and distribution of reusable instruments and trays to facilitate age specific patient care as according to HSPA Standards. Under the direct supervision of the SPD Manager and/or Educator, Supervisor of the Sterile Processing Department Responsible for assigned shifts as scheduled.Key Job ResponsibilitiesEssential Function1. Decontaminates, processes, sterilizes, stores and distributes instrument sets to facilitate age specific patient care.2. Acquires knowledge in all aspects of sterilizers, sonic wash, washer-disinfectors, and starred,3. Monitors steam sterilizer loads, has ability to identify problems concerning codes and warnings on computer printouts.4. Maintains instrument availability for scheduled and additional cases.5. Process and assemble instruments trays and peel packs in the most efficient manner possible, which includes having all trays complete and ready for their appropriate procedures in a timely manner.6. Complete knowledge of the biological indicators for testing of the sterilizers in the absence of the supervisor.7. Complete knowledge of all tests Bowie Dick (DART) test, Leak Test, Attest, and Water Quality Tests for sterilizer and Washers testing in the absence of the supervisor.8. Coordinates recall procedures in the event we have a positive culture.9. Coordinates with surgery personnel on instrument sets needed for surgery cases.Essential Function10.
