Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician (Per Diem) for the East Campus. The role supports sterilization and assembly of instruments for surgery and exams, with responsibilities including record keeping and equipment procurement.

Scheduling is days, 8-hour shifts, Mon-Sun, at East Campus Medical Center. Two years of related experience and BART or BLS at hire are required, with the option to obtain BART within six months.

DESCRIPTION

Working under direct supervision, responsible and accountable for all activities and competencies related to sterile processing. Ensures that instrumentation and equipment needed for surgery and various medical exams have been sterilized and assembled in accordance with regulatory guidelines and hospital policy. Ensures compliance with all record keeping requirements. Assists with ordering and procuring equipment and instrumentation as needed.

These open positions are located in our East Campus location with variable shifts. The schedule will be discussed in detail with the applicants moving forward to the final interview stage of the recruitment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must possess the abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
• Must have two (2) years of recent experience in a similar role and setting.
• Knowledge of effective inventory storage and retrieval practices.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the sterilization process of surgical instruments.
• Thorough knowledge of a variety of surgical procedures, instrumentation, and equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to take initiatives, prioritize demands and work in a team environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Sterile Processing Tech Certification.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

• Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs including weekend availability.
• Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $79,469 - $79,469 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $38.06 - $38.06
