Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to ensure sterilization and assembly of surgical instruments for procedures. The role requires compliance with regulatory guidelines, accurate record-keeping, and teamwork.

The position is located at East Campus with variable shifts; hours and location will be discussed during final interviews. Prior experience and a Sterile Processing Tech Certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must possess the abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned.
• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six months of hire.
• Must have two years of recent experience in a similar role.
• Knowledge of effective inventory storage and retrieval practices.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the sterilization process of surgical instruments.
• Thorough knowledge of a variety of surgical procedures, instrumentation, and equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to take initiatives, prioritize demands and work in a team environment.

DESCRIPTION

Working under direct supervision, responsible and accountable for all activities and competencies related to sterile processing. Ensures that instrumentation and equipment needed for surgery and various medical exams have been sterilized and assembled in accordance with regulatory guidelines and hospital policy. Ensures compliance with all record keeping requirements. Assists with ordering and procuring equipment and instrumentation as needed.

These open positions are located in our East Campus location with variable shifts. The schedule will be discussed in detail with the applicants moving forward to the final interview stage of the recruitment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must possess the abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

• Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs including weekend availability.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $79,469 - $79,469 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $38.06 - $38.06

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
