Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA is looking for a Spay/Neuter Clinic & RVT Supervisor in San Mateo, California. Spay/Neuter Clinic & RVT Supervisor
$43.27 - $45.67 per hour depending on experience; $7,500 sign‑on bonus and an excellent benefits package are available.
The Spay/Neuter Clinic & RVT Supervisor provides daily supervision and hands‑on support for Registered Veterinary Technicians, directs the day‑to‑day operation of the clinic, ensures efficient running of surgeries and duties, and performs Registered Veterinary Technician duties as needed.
In consultation with the department manager, coaches, counsels and takes corrective action with employees as needed. This position supervises Registered Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants and volunteers in the Spay & Neuter Clinic and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The required abilities include managing the emotional aspect of end‑of‑life services and humane euthanasia, supporting staff in high‑emotion circumstances, passing a background check upon hire, and being organized and able to direct other staff.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one‑year related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Supervisory experience in a fast‑paced and/or high‑volume clinic is preferred.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, shelter medical records and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before the public, volunteers and employees; good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, compute rates, ratios and percent.
Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form; ability to work well under pressure in emergency situations while dealing with several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Knowledge of Clinic HQ and the Chameleon database software or ability to become proficient within the probationary period. Basic knowledge or ability to become proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, computer keyboarding skills and data entry.
Registered Veterinary Technician certification/license from an accredited program is required.
Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to grab, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear; occasionally required to sit. Frequently lift and/or move up to 50-75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
The work environment involves exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals; routine exposure to zoonotic diseases, aggressive and feral animals; mechanical moving parts; outside weather conditions and risk of radiation; and usually loud noise levels. This position has flexible start times approved by the manager.
