Overview
We are seeking an experienced Spatial Sata Specialist with a strong background in 3D laser scanning, point cloud data, and large-scale data management to support an enterprise-wide Digital Twin and Reality Capture initiative. This role supports 15 industrial refinery sites and focuses on managing, validating, organizing, and integrating massive volumes of 3D scan and CAD data into a centralized enterprise environment.
Responsibilities
- 3D Reality Capture & Data Management: Support development and implementation of an enterprise 3D scan storage hierarchy and metadata schema in Azure
- Apply and normalize metadata across existing and incoming datasets
- Manage as-built 3D scan datasets including vendor validation, publishing, versioning, and archival
- Perform quality control (QC) on point cloud datasets, including cleanup and optimization
- Coordinate data transfers between scan vendors, EPCs, and internal teams
- Integrate external 3D CAD models and support automation of ingestion workflows
- Support conversion of scan data for engineering and operational use
- Support integration across CAD, point cloud, and GIS platforms
- Improve data accessibility and usability for engineering and operations users
- Assist with managing very large datasets exceeding 100+ terabytes
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years working with large 3D datasets (point clouds, CAD, UAV data)
- Experience with point cloud formats such as E57 and LAS
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and 3D tools (Navisworks, Plant 3D, Revit, or similar)
- Understanding of laser scanning QA concepts
- Experience managing large datasets in structured storage environments
- Comfortable working with vendors and internal stakeholders
- Exposure to basic scripting or automation (Python, PowerShell, FME)
Preferred Qualifications
- Industrial or infrastructure experience (oil & gas, refining, utilities, manufacturing)
- Familiarity with 3D viewers (Cintoo, NavVis IVION, Leica TruView, Bentley, Autodesk Construction Cloud)
- Exposure to Cognite Data Fusion or similar platforms
