Job summary

Valeo in Kansas seeks a Spare Parts Warehouse Technician in Maintenance Spares to organize and manage spare parts inventory, lead safety and training for the spares team, and ensure availability for production. Your role includes implementing 5S, QRQC practices and maintaining stock accuracy.

You will supervise handling of spare parts and support maintenance actions with a focus on efficiency and safe operations in a busy warehouse.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety rules for spares activities
• Induct all newcomers in his/her perimeter (temporaries included)
• Organise training actions so they know procedures, tools & standards
• Train team on Line QRQC, Maintenance QRQC, Maintenance 5 WHYs and red tags
• Analyse skill needs and define training plans to develop autonomy
• Monitor certification process and update flexibility grid
• Manage daily presence, holidays, safety rules, risk analysis and KPI
• Apply standards with rigour and escalate per standards
• Lead monthly team objective reviews and maintain positive social climate
• Prepare and review annual appraisals and salary reviews
• Promote Valeo 5 axes and ensure spare parts management standards
• Implement 5S in spare parts warehouse and ensure easy location of parts
• Lead spare parts procurement strategy, lead times, and criticality with Equipment FMEA
• Improve inventory accuracy via cycle counts and root-cause analysis
• Control obsolescence and non-rotating stock and propose actions

• Ensure that safety rules for spares activities
• Be responsible for induction of all newcomers in his/her perimeter (temporaries included).
• Ensure the organisation and scheduling of training actions so that they are aware of all the procedures, tools & standards they have to know & apply in their job.
• Ensure that his/her team is trained to Line QRQC, Maintenance QRQC, Maintenance 5 WHYs, red tags use, and that they understand what they have to do and when.
• Analyse flexibility and multi skills needs of his/her team, and define training plans in order to develop team autonomy and improvement spirit.
• Monitor certification process for each team member and update in real time flexibility grid.
• Manage daily: absenteeism, holidays, safety rules enforcement, environment risk analysis, Key Performance Indicators.
• Ensure that standards of reaction are applied with rigour and perform escalation according to standards.
• Follow up main objectives in monthly meetings with his/her team.
• Is responsible for personnel involvement and ensures a positive social climate.
• Conduct annual appraisals, as well as salary review.
• Promote permanently ERIM, TPM & SAP Maintain standards
• Ensure 5S implementation in order to have a clean and organized warehouse, allowing prompt location identification of parts
• Establish & maintain the spare part management system
• Supervise the handling of spare parts
• Create the working instructions & procedures for employees working in spare parts warehouse & management
• Ensure access to spare parts by necessary employees during production period (normal & overtime)
• Logistic & Production for tasks needing equipment off.
• In case of reliability issues, implement or ensure implementation of the appropriate Quick Response, in order to minimise the equipment non-availability. It can include to order, repair or get repaired in emergency Spare Parts. 2
• For corrective actions, ensure appropriate resources are allocated to minimise stoppages.
• Ensure actions to avoid recurrence are defined & taken.
• React in case of issue & elevate issues at APU & Maintenance management.
• Support its team on the major issues.
• Propose the spare parts budget to the Plant / Production manager
• Implement spare parts warehouse red box
• Permanently challenge the inventory reorder points and stock value.
• Improve inventory accuracy thanks to regular cycle counting, discrepancy root cause analysis and action plan
• Track spare parts obsolescence (including following transfers and equipments write off) and identify non-rotating stock
• Propose to Maintenance Manager a list of obsolete, non-rotating spare parts & related
• Action Plan, such as sell back to suppliers or on the open market, or to other Valeo plants.
• Define the spare parts procurement strategy, taking into account the spare parts cost,
• Lead Time and crucialness of equipment, in relationship with Equipment FMEA.
• Improve the spare parts management & handling system.
• Lead action plans to improve the spares department performance, maximising inventory availability for production.
• Reach and maintain a dynamic and efficient Proposals of Improvements system.
• Participate in safety and environment risks reduction.
• Leads Safety QRQC for all accidents & near-misses involving spares people.
• Contribute to new equipment and processes industrialization and start ups.
• Participate in Maintenance QRQC.
• Pilot PDCA / FTA & Maintenance 5 WHYs on topics assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
• Prepare LLC & Kaizen Cards.
• Promote the Valeo 5 axes in daily activities, develop improvement plan on VPS, IP, TQ, SAP and reach assigned V5000 targets.
• Contribute to successful new projects
• Participate to contract negotiation with parts supplier lead by purchase department
• Promote and participate to standardisation of spare parts
• Alert and build action plan in case of non-available spare parts
• Create the new line’s necessary spare part list
• Request quotation about new spare parts
• New parts get into spare part handling system
• Participate in the spare parts list definition at the earlier stage of machines / equipment investment; Challenge it.
