Job summary

St. Augustine Prep is seeking a Spanish teacher to educate students in grades 8-12, emphasizing fluency and cultural understanding. The role focuses on engaging instruction across vocabulary, grammar, conversation, storytelling, and culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in the subject area of Spanish.
• Master’s degree in the subject area of Spanish or Education desirable.
• NJ Teacher Certification and/or prior secondary school teaching experience desirable.
• Possess excellent knowledge and understanding of a broad base of language skills and content, especially Advanced Placement levels.

Responsibilities

• Develops students' fluency in Spanish through engaging instruction that integrates vocabulary, grammar, conversation, storytelling, and culture.
• Delivers high-quality, interactive instruction in a supportive, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment that encourages active participation, collaboration, and real-world language application.
• Demonstrates effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; understands the developmental needs of adolescent learners; and exhibits flexibility, enthusiasm, and a passion for language acquisition and cultural education.
• Is willing to be involved with students in an extracurricular capacity such as coach/club moderator.
• Demonstrates proficiency in relevant computer and software applications.
• Demonstrates the ability to confer with parents and students in a cooperative effort to understand the student and to encourage progress.
