Job summary

Berkeley Rose Waldorf School in Oakland, California, seeks a full-time Spanish Specialty Teacher for Grades 1–8 for the 2026/27 year. The successful candidate will teach Spanish within a Waldorf framework, engage students, and collaborate with colleagues and families to support the school mission.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in Spanish (preferred) or equivalent, Waldorf teacher training or experience, and familiarity with Waldorf World Language education.

Responsibilities

• Teach the language to Grades 1 to 8, following the developmental arc of learning in the Waldorf pedagogy.
• Bring the Spanish language through a curriculum that includes stories, songs, movement and games, Spanish plays, reading, and writing appropriate to each grade level.
• Create a curriculum that brings age appropriate reading, writing and conversational skills in the Spanish language.
• Be able to hold Spanish festival celebrations, Spanish language related field trips and other community activities.
• Create a welcoming, safe and inclusive classroom for all students in line with the school's DEIB commitment.
• Participate in All staff meetings, including weekly meetings, In-service days, and scheduled professional development.
• Provide narrative or rubric-based student reports, attend parent-teacher conferences, and maintain communication with families as needed.

Berkeley Rose is welcoming applications for a full-time Spanish language teacher for the 2026/27 academic year. Successful candidates will enthusiastically engage students and work collaboratively with colleagues and the parent community to create an educational environment aligned with Waldorf pedagogy, our school mission and program goals. The ideal candidates will be certified Waldorf teachers, have experience working with children and be committed to collegial work and self-development. A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is strongly preferred.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Teaching Responsibilities

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Full time position. Benefits offered include health insurance (medical, vision, dental), tuition remission, mentoring and professional development opportunities. Current Waldorf certified Specialty teacher salary is $70,000 - $74,600 annually.
