Job summary

Children’s Wisconsin is seeking a Medical Interpreter III to support patients and families by facilitating communication with healthcare staff in medical, community, and emergency settings.

The role requires bilingual Spanish, a healthcare interpretation background, and proficiency with MS Office, Epic, and electronic health records. Part-time schedule with mix of clinic shifts.

You will interpret at appointments, meetings, exams, and therapy, ensuring accurate and compassionate communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in translation/interpreting or related health field.
• Current or completion within 6 months of a medical interpreting course.
• Pass proficiency tests with 80%+ overall score.
• Medical terminology knowledge and NCIHC ethics familiarity.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and cultural mediation abilities.
• MS Word, Outlook, Excel and Epic familiarity.
• CCHI/CMI certification within 2 years.
• For Interpreter II: 2 years of medical interpreting experience; contractors may qualify after 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate complex communication between staff and patients/families in medical settings.
• Interpret at medical appointments, meetings, exams, treatments, and therapy sessions.
• Provide sight translation of medical and social care documents.
• Translate, proofread, edit, and prepare final versions of written materials.
• Attend in-services, meetings, committees, and special projects.
• Assist with scheduling, audits, and special projects during downtime.
• Use MS Office, Outlook, Excel, iPad and Epic in daily work.
• Maintain excellent customer service, communication, and listening skills.
• Organize tasks and multi-task to serve multiple patients/families.
