Job summary

SOSi is seeking a Spanish Analytic Linguist to support a federal law enforcement client in Baltimore, MD. The part-time role involves live monitoring, translation, transcription, and interpretation of intercepted communications, with shifts that may include nights and weekends.

Ideal candidates are U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents with at least one year of translation experience, strong English proficiency, and the ability to obtain/maintain a security clearance.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years old or older.
• Hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Be a U.S. citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident with legal work status (access to classified documents requires citizenship).
• Minimum of one year of translation experience in the required language.
• Demonstrated proficiency in English and the target language via testing (within five years).
• Certified or ability to become certified in listening, speaking, reading, and writing proficiency.
• Familiarity with Intercept Systems (JSI VoiceBox, Pen-Link Lincoln) is a plus.
• Strong English and native language writing/translating ability.

Responsibilities

• Monitor live communications, provide verbal summaries and translate into English.
• Transcribe audio/video and written communications between source language and English.
• Interpret consecutively or simultaneously as required.
• Provide quality control of translations and attest to accuracy.
• Summarize oral or written communications concisely for law enforcement.
