Job summary

Amentum seeks a Materials & Processes Engineer to join the JETS II contract with ERC, supporting NASA spaceflight hardware. You will advise on materials selection, process control, corrosion prevention, and electrical bonding for IVA/EVA environments, and review drawings and testing plans.

Required qualifications include a bachelor's in engineering and 5+ years in metallurgy/materials science for space applications. Familiarity with contamination control and testing is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; 2–5 years of experience in the field or related area.
  • Knowledge of materials and processes for space applications including materials selection, corrosion prevention, electrical bonding, contamination control, and testing.
  • Familiarity with M&P for space hardware and experience reviewing drawings and testing plans.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on M&P requirements for IVA and EVA environments, including materials selection, process control, and qualification.
  • Assist with MUAs, MIULs, oxygen compatibility assessments, and drawings/testing plan reviews.
  • Provide input to program specifications to ensure M&P requirements are incorporated at the right level.
  • Review project documentation to ensure M&P requirements for spaceflight hardware are met.
  • Assess vendor processes and define changes needed for compliance.
  • Provide recommendations for qualification and acceptance testing to verify requirements.
