The role supports a program office for a Major System Acquisition. The ideal candidate is a mid‑career engineer with technical expertise in software and systems engineering, experienced acting independently as an ambassador for the program office.

As the Factory Representative, you will serve as a trusted technical liaison bridging government stakeholders and developer software teams for a major program acquisition. You will ensure that the software under development for the satellite manufacturer meets launch and sustainment mission requirements and adheres to IC acquisition processes. You will build relationships with the developer and communicate wins and challenges back to the program management office in Chantilly, VA to ensure cost, schedule and performance targets are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary point of contact between government leadership and software development teams to align technical capabilities with mission goals.
  • Translate complex, evolving user needs into technical requirements for the software factory's pipelines.
  • Advise on IC program management processes, assisting with technical feasibility analysis, cost realism, and risk assessment for software procurement.
  • Drive operational rhythm by coordinating between engineering, mission and contract teams, ensuring Agile/DevSecOps practices are followed.
Qualifications
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field plus 9+ years of professional relevant experience, or Master of Science degree plus 7+ years of experience; additional years may be substituted for a degree.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering practices, including requirements management, verification and validation.
  • Experience in Agile software development, preferably software for satellite systems.
  • Experience in satellite operations, preferably with government intelligence satellite systems.
  • Experience with verification sell‑off of requirements.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycles (SDLC), DevSecOps processes or cloud architecture.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for presenting technical, schedule and resource updates to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in IC acquisition and program management principles.
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to master different tools; experience with configuration management tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Solid understanding of engineering principles and project lifecycle phases, especially in space systems development.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic project environment.
  • Available to travel occasionally domestically.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in space system development or satellite integration.
  • Solid understanding of DoD/IC satellite systems and architectures.
  • Experience in defense and intelligence community acquisition and program management processes.
  • Fluency in a coding language (JavaScript, HTML, Python, Microsoft VBA).
  • Solid understanding of the DOD and/or IC acquisition process and related milestones.
  • Familiarity with space systems, ground support and hardware acquisitions.
  • Understanding of full life‑cycle system support from procurement to launch, including requirement analysis, tracking, system design, development through system test, installation and sell‑off, delivery, and hardware development, testing, analysis and verification.

Target salary range: $160,001 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
