Job summary

True Anomaly seeks a Spacecraft Mechanical Production Engineer to develop, implement, and optimize production processes for mechanical structures and mechanisms across multiple vehicle types. You will translate designs into flight hardware through close collaboration with engineers and technicians.

Located near Long Beach, CA, this role combines hands-on fabrication, assembly, and process improvements in a hybrid environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • Experience in mechanical or manufacturing engineering for aerospace, defense, or high-reliability systems.
  • Experience with PLM, MES, and data management controls.
  • Experience with AS9100 processes and standards.
  • Hands-on fabrication, assembly, and testing of mechanical components.

Responsibilities

  • Support the setup and scaling of spacecraft mechanical manufacturing capabilities for developmental programs and rate production.
  • Develop work instructions for the assembly, integration, and test of structural subsystems, mechanisms, deployables, and related ground support equipment and tooling.
  • Directly support production on the floor to ensure efficient build of mechanical hardware, addressing bottlenecks and troubleshooting technical issues as needed.
  • Generate and resolve non-compliance reports for mechanical hardware, conducting root cause investigations and implementing corrective actions.
  • Oversee calibration and certification of mechanical ground support equipment including fixtures, lifting devices, and test equipment.
  • Drive process improvements and corrective actions to increase the efficiency and reliability of mechanical hardware manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with design engineering to provide manufacturability feedback and contribute to technical documentation, including drawings, process flows, and test specifications.

YOUR MISSION

We are revolutionizing spacecraft systems and are searching for candidates passionate about hands‑on engineering and advancingnew technologiesin space. As a Spacecraft Mechanical Production Engineeryou will have the opportunity to develop, implement, and optimise the production processes for mechanical structures and mechanism systems for multiple vehicle types at True Anomaly. You will directly coordinate with engineers, technicians, and others to create optimised designs and bring them into reality to fly and operate in space.

RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • Years of relevant experience in mechanical or manufacturing engineering for aerospace, defense, or high-reliability systems in line with engineering level.
  • Experience with PLM, MES, configuration and data management controls and systems.
  • Experience working to AS9100 process and standards.
  • Hands‑on experience with mechanical component fabrication, assembly, and testing including precision fastening, bonding, and surface treatment processes.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Experience in the design, manufacturing, and testing of spacecraft mechanical components (e.g., structures, panels, mechanisms, deployables, separation systems).
  • Direct experience in spacecraft or launch vehicle structural integration, with an emphasis on precision alignment and interface control.
  • Background in spacecraft mechanical or structural environmental and qualification testing (vibration, acoustic, thermal).
  • Experience building and producing classified hardware in SCIF’s or SAP facilities.
COMPENSATION

Base Salary:

  • Production Engineer II: $100,000-$120,000
  • Production Engineer III: $125,000-$155,000

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case‑by‑case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, location, and experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Work Location — Successful candidates will be located near Long Beach, CA. While we observe a hybrid work environment, some work must be done on site.
  • Work environment — the work environment; temperature, noise level, inside or outside, or other factors that will affect the person's working conditions while performing the job.
  • Physical demands — the physical demands of the job, including bending, sitting, lifting and driving.
