Job summary

Varda Space Industries in El Segundo, CA is seeking a Senior Spacecraft Embedded Software Engineer to join the Flight Software team and help define how our spacecraft behaves in orbit.

You will own all software development phases from requirements to testing and flight support, writing C++ for bare metal, RTOS, or Linux platforms. This on-site role offers a competitive salary and equity with strong benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, math, physics, engineering, or equivalent.
• 5+ years in spacecraft or safety-critical software development.
• Experience with real-time embedded hardware/software and C++.

Responsibilities

• Develop firmware to control spacecraft, satellite bus, and reentry capsule through the full mission lifecycle.
• Own all aspects of software development, from design, testing, and integration.
• Scope projects including requirements capture and initial design trades for open-ended problems.
• Write bare metal, RTOS, or Linux-based embedded software in C++.
• Build highly reliable software systems and ensure quality through V&V techniques.
• Support flight operations and maintenance post-launch.
