Job summary

System One is seeking a SEIT TIDES Software Engineer in Scottsdale, AZ to design, develop, test, and maintain software tools and CI/CD pipelines for spacecraft payload development. You will work closely with hardware and lab teams to deliver reliable software near real hardware.

You will build automation, deploy containerized services with Docker/Kubernetes, and contribute to test infrastructure and lab integration activities, growing toward broader platform ownership within TIDES.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field (CS/CE/EE/SE).
• Mid-level software eng experience developing maintainable apps, services, or automation.
• Space/aerospace domain experience preferred (spacecraft/payloads/flight hardware).
• Strong fundamentals: data structures, OO, testing, debugging, version control.
• Experience with PyTest or similar testing frameworks.
• Git-based workflows including MR, issue tracking, releases.
• CI/CD pipelines with GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.
• Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu) proficiency and shell scripting.
• Containerized development with Docker/Kubernetes/Helm.
• Networking basics and lab isolation knowledge.
• Experience integrating software with hardware, labs, or APIs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications, services, and automation for TIDES SSI and DOTI.
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines in GitLab, including automated builds, tests, packaging, deployment.
• Develop interfaces connecting lab systems, data services, payload hardware, and engineering workflows.
• Support deployment of containerized services using Docker, Kubernetes, Helm.
• Write automated tests, debug defects, and improve code quality through peer review.
• Collaborate with systems, FPGA, electrical, hardware, and IT engineers to fulfill requirements.
• Investigate integration issues across software, Linux systems, networks, containers, and lab environments.
• Create and maintain documentation for designs, APIs, deployment steps, and release notes.
• Identify automation opportunities to improve reliability and repeatability.
