Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Reliability Engineer Level 2 in the Eastern Region to join the team in Dulles, VA. You will work with design and systems teams to ensure reliability across programs, using MIL-HDBK-217F, FMEA, and stress analyses to support program milestones.

The role requires a STEM degree with 2+ years of related experience, strong schematic interpretation, and familiarity with industry standards. U.S.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read electrical schematics/drawings and assess reliability.

  • Experience with FMEA/FMECA processes and reliability analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Work with design and systems teams to meet reliability requirements.
  • Perform failure-rate projections using MIL-HDBK-217F and BOM data.
  • Review FMEA and reliability analyses from vendors and internal teams.
  • Guide technical discussions on reliability impact and risk mitigation.
  • Support program milestones (SRR, PDR, CDR) as a Reliability Engineer.

NorthropGrumman Space Systems (NGSP) is looking for you to join our team as a Reliability Engineer Level2 based out of Dulles, VA. What’s You’ll Get to Do Work directly with the design and systems team to meet proposed requirements. Perform failure‑rate predictions using MIL‑HDBK‑217F or similar standards based on bill of materials (BOMs), stress analysis, and thermal analysis. Review and approve electrical stress analysis, worst‑case circuit analysis, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), and reliability analysis provided by the design team and vendors. Oversee and guide technical assessments and discussions regarding design and impact on reliability. Support program‑milestone reviews such as SRR, PDR, and CDR as a Reliability Engineer. Support proposals as a technical contributor and reviewer. Work closely with systems engineering, development, O&M, and management professionals to ensure that the program lifecycle is accomplished with high quality and efficiency.

Basic Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Aerospace engineering, Electrical engineering, or another STEM discipline and 2 years of related experience or a Master's Degree in Aerospace engineering, Electrical engineering, or another STEM discipline.
  • Ability to understand and interpret electrical schematics/drawings and functional block diagrams.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as MIL‑HDBK‑217F, MIL‑STD‑1629, SMC‑S‑013, EEE‑INST‑002.
  • Ability to create reliability block diagrams and fault‑tree diagrams.
  • Familiarity with the FMEA/FMECA process and requirements.
  • Familiarity with electrical stress analysis and worst‑case circuit analysis.
  • Ability to develop technical solutions to potential reliability and availability problems.
  • Adapt to probability and statistical tools/principles to recognize and solve problems involving non‑standard configurations/definitions of system success.
  • Ability to utilize industry tools to conduct reliability analysis.
  • Candidate must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance as well as active SCI access within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company. Continued employment thereafter will be subject to the candidate’s maintenance of the required clearance and program access.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional degree or certificate in Reliability engineering.
  • Familiarity with reliability‑modeling tools such as Windchill Risk and Reliability Solutions, Blocksim (ReliaSoft), R, etc.
  • Experience reviewing or performing derating analysis and worst‑case analysis.
  • Familiarity with other industry standards such as NSWC‑11, NPRD, FMD, 217plus, etc.
  • Familiarity with Root Cause Assessment (RCA) and failure investigation.
  • Active U.S. Government clearance.
Primary Level Salary Range

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
