Job summary

Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) seeks a student in mechanical engineering to design, analyze, manufacture, assemble, and test hardware in the CVS Division. Interns work with professional engineers and mentors on state-of-the-art space systems, with a paid monthly stipend.

The internship runs in the summer of 2027 and may lead to continued employment or a transition to student/full-time roles. SDL offers training workshops, networking opportunities, and events through our collaboration with USU.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• CAD coursework with a B grade or better.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work well in a team and communicate professionally.
• Must be a U.S. citizen eligible for a DoD security clearance.
• Hands-on experience with basic tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design, analysis, fabrication, and assembly of prototypes and hardware.
• Report and present work results.
• Assist with testing related hardware.
• Assist with creating drawings, travelers, parts tracking, and kitting.
• Create test procedures and reports.
