Job summary

Rocket Lab is seeking an FPGA Engineer II for the Space Systems division, based in Long Beach, CA. You will develop and verify FPGA firmware for spacecraft avionics, collaborating across disciplines and contributing to design, requirements, and testing of space-grade FPGA solutions.

The role emphasizes hands-on firmware development, documentation, and participation in on-orbit testing activities, with a strong focus on reliability and space-grade engineering practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer, or software engineering, or another engineering degree.
• 2+ years of FPGA firmware development experience.
• Proficiency in VHDL.
• Strong understanding of FPGA design fundamentals.
• U.S. citizenship due to program requirements.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with other disciplines to develop firmware architecture and requirements.
• Design and verify FPGA firmware for Xilinx and Microchip FPGA/SoC devices.
• Develop documentation for FPGA operation and interfacing with other SW/FPGA systems.
• Participate in test campaigns from unit to system level.
