Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Space Systems Engineering Leader to provide technical assessments of foreign space systems and leverage technical intelligence to outpace threats. You will support the NSIC as part of the Project West Wing team on-site at Wright-Patterson AFB, co-located with the customer.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in science/engineering/math, 6+ years of engineering experience, the ability to obtain a security clearance, and strong written and spoken

The Defense Systems Group (DSG) provides analysis-based decision support to senior leaders on space architectures, policy and strategy, technology development, warfighter capability enablers, systems integration, defense industrial base, and threat reduction to help shape existing and future space missions across the national security space (NSS) enterprise. DSG is unique at Aerospace as it not only directly supports major customers, including the U.S. Space Force, U.S. Space Command, Air Force Material Command, and senior leadership at the Pentagon, but also provides a broad range of technical support across the national space enterprise, maintaining vertical responsibilities with customers' portfolios as well as horizontal, matrixed responsibilities across the corporation. The Space Systems Engineering Leader is responsible for providing technical assessments of foreign space systems and leveraging technical intelligence to outpace the threat. Primary responsibilities include providing engineering support to our customers at the National Space Intelligence Center (NSIC) as part of the Project West Wing (PWW) team co-located with the customer.

The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH.

What You Need to Be Successful

Minimum Requirements for Project Leader - Systems and Scientific & Technical Intelligence Engineering:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in science, engineering, or mathematics
• 6 or more years of experience in engineering or related technical field
• Demonstrated understanding of relevant satellite threat technologies and their applications; e.g., electronic warfare, directed energy, kinetic effects
• Experience in analysis of: directed energy systems including lasers and the electro-optical systems that enable laser energy delivery; onboard satellite data processing, decision-making, and mission-enabling software to execute onboard processes; or satellite systems using a range of engineering and modeling tools
• Must be comfortable in a rapidly changing environment and have a strong demonstrated personal initiative
• Superior written and oral communications skills and ability to work with other analysts and customers as a team player
• Flexibility to learn new tools/capabilities as needed
• Willing to travel 10% approx.
• This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government.
• U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
