Job summary

AST SpaceMobile is seeking a Lead Manufacturing Engineer / Manufacturing Engineering Manager to oversee and optimize manufacturing processes for the Cover Glass Integrated Solar Cell production line. The role focuses on improving yield and throughput while managing production personnel.

Key responsibilities include leading cross-functional teams, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Ideal candidates will have a degree in Mechanical Engineering and significant experience in high-tech manufacturing.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of experience in high-tech manufacturing, preferably in photovoltaic, semiconductor, or display panel industries.
• Strong knowledge of glass processing, solar module assembly, laser operations, or thin-film technology.
• Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional project management and production scaling.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and qualification of processes for cover glass lamination, laser cutting, interconnect integration, and solar cell encapsulation.
• Provide hands-on technical support to resolve day-to-day production issues.
• Apply Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and SPC methods to improve line efficiency.
