Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in Laurel, MD is seeking a Radiation Survivability Engineer to advance understanding of radiation effects on space systems and nuclear environments. Qualifications

• MS in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years in Radiation/Survivability in NSE/NWE or nuclear environments.
• Strong knowledge of nuclear physics or related field.
• Experience deriving NSE/NWE requirements.
• Expertise in radiation testing of SOTA electronics and systems.
• Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate parts, materials, and systems against radiation environments.
• Develop radiation test requirements for components, materials, and systems.
• Plan and execute tests; generate reports and analyses.
• Operate radiation transport codes to specify and verify requirements.
• Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to ensure survivability.
• Run transport models and develop testing fixturing.
• Lead radiation test campaigns at in-house and external labs.
