Job summary

Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) in North Logan, UT is seeking a self-motivated CAD designer to produce 3D solid models and production drawings for space hardware and ground support equipment. The role collaborates with engineering teams to meet schedule, cost, and design requirements, using NX CAD and Teamcenter PLM, and typically requires U.S.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 10+ years of professional experience with 3D Solid Modeling CAD software.
• Applied math skills and ability to use analytical formulas.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• U.S. citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
• Active Top Secret security clearance (preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (preferred).
• 10+ years of experience with NX CAD software using Teamcenter PLM (preferred).
• Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and system level tolerance analysis (preferred).
• Experience designing space structures, optical elements, bonded structures, or composite structures for cryogenic/vacuum environments (preferred).
• Experience with cable harness routing (preferred).
• Knowledge of manufacturing processing, fixturing, and tooling (preferred).
• Familiarity with surface treatments and finishes (preferred).
• Experience with part inspection (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Performs detailed CAD design for space hardware and ground support equipment.
• Generates fabrication and assembly drawings, including tolerancing.
• Collaborates with engineering teams to meet schedule, cost, and design requirements.
