Job summary

Firefly Aerospace, Inc. seeks a Composite M&P Engineer I to support design, manufacturing, testing and R&D in Briggs, TX. You’ll work with carbon fiber composites, adhesives, and related materials to drive innovative solutions across aerospace projects.

The role requires collaboration across teams, hands-on testing, and timely technical execution with minimal supervision. You’ll identify improvement opportunities, review solutions with stakeholders, and ensure product quality and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Polymer Science, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 1+ years of experience in carbon fiber composite materials research, testing or manufacturing.
• Experience with polymeric materials and aerospace materials.
• Knowledge of ASTM, ASM, NASA and ISO standards and their uses.

Responsibilities

• Research and select composite materials and processes for structural applications on existing or new designs.
• Perform related material testing and evaluations, such as microscopy, failure analysis, thermal analysis techniques and mechanical testing.
• Execute characterization and allowable campaigns.
• Develop, implement and maintain materials and processes technical specifications.
• Provide technical support for manufacturing and design teams in non-metallic materials and processes selection and optimization.
