Job description

The Aerospace Corporation is the trusted partner to the nation’s space programs, solving the hardest problems and providing unmatched technical expertise. As the operator of a federally funded research and development center (FFRDC), we are broadly engaged across all aspects of space— delivering innovative solutions that span satellite, launch, ground, and cyber systems for defense, civil and commercial customers. When you join our team, you’ll be part of a special collection of problem solvers, thought leaders, and innovators. Join us and take your place in space. The Enterprise Effects Division advances the integration of strategic capabilities across the national space enterprise. Bringing together a broad range of engineering disciplines, the division addresses complex mission challenges across a dynamic portfolio of programs, customers, and national priorities. Its work spans the full capability lifecycle, from early concept development and architecture design to performance assessment and mission application. The Enterprise Design Subdivision is seeking systems engineers and architects who are energized by complexity, motivated by mission impact, and excited to help shape innovative solutions for critical space challenges. In this role, you will contribute to the design, analysis, and integration of mission and enterprise architectures that support national security objectives. You will work across technical domains and organizational boundaries to help deliver thoughtful, effective, and forward-looking solutions. As a member of this team, you will support system-, mission-, and portfolio-level trades and analyses; contribute to architecture development efforts; and help integrate technical, operational, and strategic considerations into actionable recommendations. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate across space, ground, and communications domains while working alongside experts from a wide range of engineering and mission disciplines.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Support the design of innovative space systems, mission architectures, and their integration into end-to-end enterprise architectures
  • Contribute to trades and analyses across the system, mission, and portfolio levels
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and evaluate space, ground, and communications network concepts and architectures
  • Help coordinate technical activities across geographically distributed teams and stakeholders
  • Contribute to integration efforts across multiple organizations, leveraging strong collaboration and technical breadth
  • Analyze complex technical challenges, identify risks, and help develop practical, mission-focused solution options
  • Support enterprise integration across disparate datasets to enhance mission understanding and inform decision-making
  • Contribute to strategic planning and strategic roadmapping activities tied to future mission and capability development
What You Need To Be Successful
  • Minimum Requirements for Project Engineer – Enterprise Systems Engineering
  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, science, or a related technical field
  • Experience in systems engineering, system or enterprise architecting, concept design, and/or model-based systems engineering
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), including System Modeling Language (SysML) and/or Unified Architecture Framework (UAF)
  • Knowledge of System of Systems Engineering and demonstrated systems thinking capabilities
  • Experience supporting or collaborating with cross-functional, cross-organizational teams
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to support periodic travel within the continental United States
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative, on-site environment
  • U.S. citizenship is required for positions requiring a security clearance
  • Additional engineering experience supporting complex systems, enterprise architectures, or mission-focused technical programs
  • Experience with DoD and/or IC systems design, enterprise architectures, and/or space mission architectures
  • Experience integrating information and analysis across disparate datasets
  • Familiarity with strategic planning and strategic road mapping
  • Experience working with or supporting Enterprise Architects
  • Experience with or knowledge of the Program Objective Memorandum (POM) process
  • Proven ability to collaborate with subject matter experts to develop technical positions, assess risks, and formulate courses of action
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries in support of integrated mission outcomes
How You Can Stand Out

  • Demonstrated experience with system design, optimization, CONOPS, development, mission engineering, integration, and/or test
  • Demonstrated experience with MBSE at the system level (e.g., SysML) and/or system-of-systems or enterprise level (e.g., UAF)
  • Demonstrated leadership across organizational boundaries and the ability to influence integration outcomes
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in collaborative team environments with government customers, contractors, FFRDCs, and SETA personnel
