Job summary

Nightwing in Palm Bay, FL is seeking a Space Engineer to join our team. The role focuses on vulnerability assessment and threat analysis of ground-to-space communication systems, satellite command and control links, telemetry, and ground station infrastructure.

You will apply space and software expertise to identify security vulnerabilities, work with government and commercial space customers, and travel to customer sites as needed. Requires TS/SCI clearance and a related degree.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in satellite communications, RF security, or space systems (relevant).
• Solid understanding of software development in C, C++, or Python.
• Experience with analysis and debugging tools (IDA Pro, Ghidra, Binary Ninja, gdb, windbg).
• Knowledge of Assembly (x86/x64).
• Understanding of space communication vulnerabilities and attack vectors.
• Familiarity with ground station architecture and satellite control systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; customer-facing experience with government or military clients.

Nightwing is seeking a talented and highly skilled Space Engineer to join its dynamic team in Palm Bay, FL. The Space Engineer will specialize in vulnerability assessment and threat analysis of ground-to-space communication systems software. The ideal candidate will leverage their space and software expertise to identify and analyze security vulnerabilities in satellite command and control links, telemetry systems, and ground station infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Vulnerability assessment of ground-to-space communication architectures
• Identify and assess emerging technology in space communication
• Identify and assess emerging threats to space communication
• Serve as the primary technical liaison for DoD, Intelligence Community, and commercial space customers

Required Skills

• Active TS/SCI clearance
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field
• 10+ years of experience in satellite communications, RF security, or space systems
• Solid understanding of software development and knowledge in any of the following: C, C++, or Python
• Experience with program analysis, reverse engineering, and debugging tools (e.g., angr, BAP, IDA Pro, Binary Ninja, gdb, Ghidra, windbg)
• Knowledge of Assembly (x86/x64)
• Strong understanding of satellite communication vulnerabilities and attack vectors
• Knowledge of cryptographic protocols and secure communication standards
• Familiarity with ground station architecture and satellite control systems
• Understanding of electronic warfare principles and countermeasures
• Demonstrated experience in customer-facing roles with government or military clients
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to present to senior leadership
• Proven ability to build and maintain customer relationships in sensitive environments
• Ability to translate technical concepts for audiences with varying technical backgrounds
• Willingness to travel to customer sites
