Job summary

Firefly Aerospace is seeking a Platform Engineer to lead development of critical C++ platform software and firmware across our onboard stack. You will own core components, libraries, APIs, and tools, and work hands-on with hardware teams to integrate sensors and compute platforms into reliable end-to-end systems.

The role sits onsite at Firefly's facility, with flexibility for onsite at Austin or Littleton; some travel for AI&T and mission ops may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or higher in a technical field with practical experience.
• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience in embedded Linux, hardware interfaces, and IPC.
• Strong C++ skills with multithreading and performance focus.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement features in the onboard C++ software stack.
• Develop Sol3 SDK libraries, APIs, and tools for engineering teams.
• Work with cameras, sensors, compute platforms end-to-end integration.
• Optimize multithreaded, low-latency software for embedded systems.
• Collaborate with hardware teams on tests, integration, and reviews.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to architectural decisions.
