Job summary

True Anomaly in Laguna Beach offers an entry-level data science role focused on turning spacecraft data into actionable insights across manufacturing and operations. You will write SQL queries, build predictive models in Python, and create dashboards to surface production bottlenecks and on-orbit anomalies.

This 3-month temporary engagement may convert to regular employment based on performance and business need, providing hands-on exposure to reliability engineering and mission operations

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in a quantitative field.
• Proficiency in Python for data analysis (pandas, numpy).
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Coursework in statistics and experimental design.
• Ability to create clear visualizations for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Interest in reliability engineering and data-driven decisions.

Responsibilities

• Perform exploratory data analysis on manufacturing telemetry and mission data.
• Build dashboards in Grafana or Plotly Dash showing real-time status and health metrics.
• Train basic predictive models to flag at-risk components.
• Write SQL to extract and aggregate data from multiple sources.
• Analyze test failures and anomalies to identify failure modes.
• Create visualizations to communicate findings to engineers and program managers.
• Document methods in Jupyter notebooks for reproducibility.
• Learn reliability engineering concepts and anomaly response procedures.
