Job summary

Crowley Maritime Corporation is seeking an experienced Fuel Route Driver in Palmer, Alaska. You will load and unload fuel, comply with DOT regulations, and maintain vehicle readiness for daily operations.

The role requires a Class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements, TWIC and medical card, and experience delivering fuel in winter conditions. Training and benefits are provided for ongoing development.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of experience operating Commercial Motor Vehicles.
• CDL Class A with X (Tanker and Hazmat) endorsements and Doubles/Triples.
• Must meet FMCSA driver qualifications.
• Experience using tablets for work instructions (ELD, maintenance, hours tracking).
• Must have a current medical card.
• Must be able to obtain a TWIC card.
• LCV certificate preferred or ability to obtain one.
• Experience driving in winter snow and ice.
• Experience operating truck‑pup or doubles preferred.
• Experience delivering fuel preferred.

Responsibilities

• Drive a designated route to load and/or unload fuel safely and timely.
• Operate a Class A commercial vehicle with required endorsements.
• Maintain daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Submit duty status reports per DOT requirements.
• Upload delivery paperwork into the dispatch system and coordinate with supervisor.
• Maintain PPE, communicate with driver supervisor and dispatcher.
• Interact with customers and maintain supplies for the vehicle.
• Attend training sessions as scheduled.

What You'll Do

You will be responsible for driving a designated route to load and/or unload fuel safely and timely.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive a commercial motor vehicle which requires a Class A Commercial Driver's License and a Hazardous Materials endorsement.
• Apply knowledge of commercial driving and skills in maneuvering vehicles at varying speeds in difficult situations such as heavy traffic, inclement weather and in or out of tight areas.
• Transport fuel in a timely and safe manner from load racks to retail and customer sites.
• Properly manage daily pre-trip and post-trip for the assigned vehicle.
• Submit daily record of duty status (HOS) via ELD mileage records and other records per DOT requirements.
• Properly upload delivery paperwork into dispatch system.
• Maintain daily communication with driver supervisor and dispatcher.
• Maintain proper material and supplies for assigned vehicle.
• Attend monthly and/or yearly assigned training.
• Properly interact with customers.
• Maintain proper PPE at all times, both in the truck and out of the truck.

Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum of two years of experience operating Commercial Motor Vehicles.
• Class A CDL with the following endorsements: X (Tanker and Hazmat) and Doubles or Triples.
• Must meet current driver qualifications as defined in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
• Ability to use tablets for work instructions (ELD, maintenance, hours of service tracking) required.
• Must have a current medical card.
• Must be able to obtain a TWIC card.
• Longer Combination Vehicle Certificate (LCV) or ability to obtain one is preferred.
• Experience driving in winter snow and ice conditions.
• Experience operating truck-pup or doubles is preferred.
• Experience delivering fuel preferred.

Education & Credentials

High school diploma or equivalent or experience in lieu of education.

Technical Skills

Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook and Word.

Working Conditions

Works both inside an office environment and also outside in conditions of both high and low temperatures. May be exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels and potentially dangerous equipment. Must be able to crouch and stoop to get into areas with restricted headroom and be able to climb ladders. May require extended use of computer keyboard and viewing of computer monitor and ability to sit for long periods of time.
