Job summary

Nordstrom in New York is seeking a chef on our Restaurant team to blend kitchen talent with artistry, starting in a Manager in Training program. You will lead scratch cooking, develop weekly specials, and guide a skilled kitchen staff toward outstanding service and consistent quality.

The role requires 2+ years in upscale restaurant management, a passion for quality food and service, strong communication, and basic accounting. Flexible scheduling is expected.

• Solid written and verbal communications skills, as well as basic accounting skills.
• Thrived in a fast-paced environment and embraced working a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

• Lead kitchen in scratch cooking our recipes and weekly specials.
• Train, motivate and develop kitchen staff while focusing on business goals of process improvements, growth, efficiency and profitability.
• Ensure kitchen is clean and compliant and passes the white glove test.
• Complete a comprehensive Manager in Training program covering all aspects of running a kitchen.

• Complete a comprehensive Manager in Training program that covers all the ins and outs of running a successful kitchen
• Lead the kitchen crew in scratch cooking our tried and true recipes, while also preparing weekly specials
• Train, motivate and develop the kitchen staff while also focusing on the business goals of process improvements, growth, efficiency, profitability and compliance with company procedures
• Make sure the kitchen sparkles and is always ready to pass the white glove test

Pay Range Details

The pay range(s) below has been provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different for other locations.

Pay offers are dependent on the location, as well as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

$24.75 - $40.25 Hourly
