Job Summary

Helps Executive Chef prepare and cook foods, coordinates activities of cooks and other food‑service associates, and assumes responsibility for the kitchen and food‑service associates in the absence of the Executive Chef.

Location

Austin, TX – Texas Children’s Hospital North Austin – 9835 North Lake Creek Parkway

Schedule

Full‑time and part‑time schedules; Monday through Friday with variable hours; weekends included. Details upon interview.

Qualifying Experience

Minimum two (2) years of previous cooking experience in a healthcare setting.

Compensation

$24.00 to $28.00 per hour.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Supervises hourly food‑service associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, and review participation.
• Stores food in designated areas following corporate, state, and federal food‑safety and sanitation procedures.
• Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and maintenance of serving temperatures.
• Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils; cleans workstation thoroughly before leaving area.
• Keeps display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service to comply with sanitation, safety, production, and merchandising requirements.
• Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service‑oriented manner and relays information to the supervisor.
• Demonstrates complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explains them to associates and customers.
• Keeps up with peak production and service hours.
• Monitors inventory and deliveries of product and supplies, tracks production, consumption, and waste, and informs supervisor when supplies or product are low.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
