Job summary

Target is seeking a sourcing-focused professional in Minneapolis to lead cross-functional teams in merchandising and vendor engagement. This role will drive cost goals, negotiate with suppliers, and partner across global teams to deliver high-value food and beverage products for our guests.

The role emphasizes strategic thinking, strong communication, and the ability to manage a broad portfolio of products while traveling as needed, on-site four days per week at our Downtown MN HQ.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree required or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years of merchandising, sourcing or inventory management experience, including vendor engagement/management; food and beverage experience preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Ability to think strategically and conceptually.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with varying groups globally, both internal and external, to achieve business results.
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
• Strong analytical and financial skills.
• Accountability to manage broad range of products in different stages of development.
• Ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Cross-Functional Leadership – Build relationships with Product Development and Design, Merchandising, Planning, Responsible Sourcing, and Food Safety teams to develop and source owned brand food programs.
• Financial Results– Deliver on costing goals and drive financial results for the business. Build negotiation plans and understand varied negotiation levers to optimize value and outcomes across multiple business categories.
• Global/Business Partner Planning– Leverage understanding of global and domestic economic landscape to develop a sourcing strategy that delivers on opportunities and Target’s financial plans.

The pay range is $73,000.00 - $132,000.00

Be a part of the team sourcing outstanding food and beverage products for our guests. Build a world-class sourcing and business partner strategy at the program, vendor and facility level to drive optimal value within the Food and Beverage business. Develop deep costing knowledge and negotiation skills and an understanding of key manufacturing/quality processes. Optimize efficiency within the supply chain by aligning with best practices and working with partner teams.

• Cross-Functional Leadership – Build strong and influential relationships with Product Development and Design, Merchandising, Planning, Responsible Sourcing, and Food Safety teams to develop and source our owned brand food programs.
• Financial Results– Deliver on costing goals and drive financial results for the business. Build negotiation plans and understand varied negotiation levers to optimize value and outcomes across multiple business categories. Understand financials of your business and creatively influence balancing cost, quality and efficiency to improve sales and profitability, and drive best value.
• Global/Business Partner Planning– Leverage a strong understanding of the global and domestic economic landscape, at both country of production and vendor/factory matrix levels. Assess vendor and factory capabilities to develop a sourcing strategy that delivers on strategic opportunities and Target’s financial plans. Develop vendor relationships to deliver high-quality food and beverage products at a great value for our guests.

This role is performed on-site 4 days per week from our Donwtown MN HQ campus.

About You
