Job summary

Ingersoll Rand is seeking a skilled Sourcing Engineer to support multiple brands and international suppliers from its Sedalia/Springfield area. You will build strong relationships with engineering, operations and quality teams to drive cost, quality and delivery improvements across diverse product lines.

The role emphasizes negotiation, data analysis and RFP leadership, with a focus on supplier development and continuous improvement within a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of sourcing experience and proven negotiation skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills for financial and data analysis are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead negotiations and supplier selection.
  • Analyze spend data and conduct savings reviews to identify opportunities.
  • Lead RFP processes with stakeholders and qualify new parts with suppliers.
  • Negotiate terms including pricing, payment terms, lead times, and inventory programs.

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled, motivated, and results‑oriented Sourcing Engineer to support our NASH, Hibon, Fruitland, Excelsior Blower Systems, and Stamford Scientific International Aeration. The Sourcing Engineer will be a member of our Process Flow Technologies Sourcing Organization providing Ingersoll Rand with optimal supply assurance, pricing, flexibility, quality, and delivery performance. The Sourcing Engineer builds and leverages strong working relationships with our engineering, operations and quality teams and key suppliers to ensure achievement of cost, quality, and delivery targets, as well as work towards good supplier relationships to achieve maximum results for Ingersoll Rand and our customers.

Responsibilities
  • Lead negotiations and supplier selection
  • Continuously look for new savings opportunities through analysis of data (spend, purchase price variance, etc.) and hands‑on review of materials in the production areas
  • Lead Request for Proposal (RFP) process with all stakeholders
  • Work with suppliers and internal team members to qualify new parts
  • Negotiate key items with suppliers including pricing, payment terms, lead time, and inventory programs
  • Lead Supplier Development initiatives for chronic poor performance suppliers
  • Record and track information as required for timely and accurate measurement of performance regarding sourcing activities and savings
  • Support the plants to help local teams efficiently resolve escalated issues
  • Identify gaps to goals and collaboratively develop and support countermeasures and activities to close the gap and exceed targets
  • Work to align strategies between commodity and sector localization, plant rationalization and similar
  • Work with suppliers to address significant and/or systemic issues with performance (quality, delivery, warranty, etc.) as may be required in support of plant Manufacturing, Purchasing and Quality teams
  • Coordinate with commodity teams, materials, operations, engineering, finance, quality, and field operations to complete projects and achieve expected benefits within project timeline
  • Create continuous improvement ideation sessions for responsible plants. Generate and evaluate new ideas and opportunities aligned with plant priorities and strategies
  • Participate in and represent Sourcing function during plant or product Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) or Major Model Review (MMR) events. Responsible for collecting and communicating commodity actions following event
  • Perform additional duties as assigned and participate in special projects as required
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or equivalent
  • 3+ years of sourcing experience
  • 1+ years of experience using Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word. Proficiency using Excel at an advanced level (use financial and logical functions; work with multiple worksheets and workbooks; edit and use macros/import and export information) is strongly preferred
Core Competencies
  • Incumbent must have well‑developed negotiation skills and assessing vendors
  • Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret data, confirming its accuracy and adequacy, and using it to drive decisions as well as present results and business cases to management
  • Strategic communication with suppliers through data‑based decision making & strong negotiation skills
Preferences
  • Lean manufacturing related experience
  • Experience using Oracle or SAP
Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements
  • Onsite in Sedalia, MO; Springfield, MO; or Bentleyville, PA
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
