  • Work Calendar: 10 Month (185) Days Service Staff
  • Salary Scale: Instructional Support Salary Scale
Job Summary and Purpose

This position works closely with one or several pupils with disabilities on a regular basis in an effort to provide them with the physical assistance and emotional support they need to gain full benefits from the district’s special education program.

Essential Functions
  • Assists student(s) with physical tasks and reinforces instructional content.
  • Provides physical assistance such as putting on and taking off outer wear, moving from room to room, and using lavatory and other self‑help or classroom needs, and accompanies students requiring supervision outside the classroom.
  • Works with small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by teaching staff.
  • Establishes supportive relationships with students while maintaining dialogue with teaching staff to convey progress and performance data.
  • Operates and cares for equipment used with the instructional program.
  • Assists in maintaining an appropriate classroom environment, including devising and implementing special strategies for reinforcing material or skills.
  • Provides reasonable supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, field trips, instructional activities, and other school‑wide needs.
  • Serves as primary source of information and assistance to substitute teachers in the absence of the Special Education teacher.
  • Assists with collection and distribution of instructional material and with record‑keeping and student documentation.
Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent (Required).
