Job summary

Mativ is seeking an entry-level Sorter 1 to inspect finished products and ensure compliance with quality specifications. You will report to the Laminator Team Leader and perform duties that support production quality and adherence to policy and customer specs.

Responsibilities include visual inspection, defect sorting, packaging support, and necessary paperwork. Training provided for IQS system use; overtime and weekend work may be required to meet production needs.

Responsibilities

  • 100% visual inspection of products.
  • Verify product quality in accordance to product specifications.
  • Sort defects at a rate of 1,000 items per hour (OTC 3,000).
  • Assemble and roll up OTC products as required.
  • Inform supervisors of defects or abnormalities.
  • Separate non-conforming products during production.
  • Count defective products by type.
  • Stack good products in bins and discard defective ones.
  • Complete paperwork for bins and rejects.
  • Verify Line Clearance and cleanroom procedures.
  • Operate packaging machines and weigh products for packaging.

The Sorter 1 is an entry level position with primary responsibility of inspecting the finished products by ensuring products meets the quality specifications. Additionally, the responsibility of this role is to ensure instructions are in compliance with company policy and customer specifications. Report directly to the Laminator Team Leader.

responsibilities
  1. 100% visual inspection of products.
  2. Verify product quality in accordance to product specifications.
  3. Sort professional product defects at a minimum of 1,000 products per hour.
  4. Sort OTC products defects at a minimum of 3,000 products per hour.
  5. Assemble and roll up OTC products as per production requirements.
  6. Inform Laminator Operator and/or Supervisor of observed process deficiencies and product defects or abnormalities.
  7. Separate all non-conforming products during production.
  8. Count defective product by type of product.
  9. Stack good product in production bins.
  10. Discard defective products in the rejected bins.
  11. Complete paperwork for your production bins and rejected bins.
  12. Verification of Line Clearance activities as defined by applicable instructions.
  13. Clean airlocks, floor, and areas around the machine's surfaces, bins and others areas of the cleanroom as assigned by the Supervisor and following the cleaning instruction.
  14. Print, verify and approve the in-line print, label or sticker as a required by EuroMed instructions.
  15. Operates the packaging machines as required by the production.
  16. Operates weighting scales making certain that correct amount of product is packed into the retail boxes or packaging configuration.
  17. 100% visual inspection on retail boxes ensuring that:
  18. The retail box is raised straight and the label is placed in the correct position and with the right information as per the specification.
  19. The box is completely sealed without visible glue, clean and free of dust or dirt.
  20. Move; push/pull the raw material, carts, equipment and containers.
  21. Able to use the IQS system.
  22. Conform to all safety procedures.
  23. This position requires covering and/or interchanging between day and night shift (including but not limited to: cover for leaves of absence, vacation, position vacancy, etc.)
  24. This position requires working on weekends as per business needs.
Secondary responsibilities
  • Receive and return material from the warehouse.
  • Verify the materials according with the job traveler.
  • Support Z-Fold process according to the specifications.
  • Support Carton Room packaging process according to specifications.
  • Support Mixing Room process according to specifications.
  • Support Print Department process according to specifications.
  • Support others departments as assigned.

The rate for this position is $ 17.76 p/hr

Essential Experience
  • 1-year hands-on experience in a production environment.
Essential Qualifications
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 45 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree is a plus.
  • Basic computer skills using Word and Excel.
  • Physically capable performing tasks associated with the responsibilities, such as but not limited to:
  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; work on an elevated platform or surface; and talk, see and hear.
  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
Desirable Qualifications
  • 1- 3 years' hands-on experience in a production environment.
  • Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office Suite
WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, electronics and other light industrial equipment. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Also will perform tasks inside cleanroom and must follow cleanroom work instructions. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. For certain tasks, lifting equipment is provided, as is eye, ear, and toe protection.

Employee must frequently push or pull material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and or material carts carrying loads in excess of 1,800lbs.
